Michael Turner passed away last night, June 27th at approximately 10:42 pm in Santa Monica, Ca.

One of my first favorites artists back when I was only another fat fanboy, Michael Turner`s first kickass work was Witchblade (Top Cow), then Wildstorm calls to join to the first Cliffhanger wave (a subdivision with titles like Danger Girl, Crimson and Battle Chasers) but Marc Silvestri (founder of Top Cow) offers an exclusive contract to publish Turner`s own creation Fathom under Top Cow banner. Some years later, he start his own company (Aspen) and work with Marvel and DC as cover artist (with Peter Steigerwald as colorist).

Fathom was suspended because Michael has a serious health problem: cancer. The same cancer that eight years later finish with his life. He was 37.

Ya empezaron a ladrar los perros (pinche frasecita dominguera, pero bue…). Resulta que salió por ahí una persona alegando que Eva ha plagiado su “concepto 100% original”: una chica y un mecha.

Arriba se encuentran las imágenes para que las comparen (a la izquierda el trabajo de Eva y a la derecha el supuesto trabajo “original”). A lo mucho se trata del mismo concepto en diferentes ilustraciones. Cabe repetir que el concepto no es 100% original y no creo que pueda registrarse ante el Instituto Nacional de Derecho de Autor (o Comisión Federal de los Derechos de Autor, como dice el “creador original”).

Parecido razonable 2. A la izquierda la portada que ha hecho Pasqual Ferry para la adaptación al cómic (2008) del libro El Juego de Ender (escrito por Orson Scott Card). A la derecha el boceto que hice en el 2006 para una hipotética portada del libro…

I see more comics in my future, stay tuned. Im back to freelance work but now focused in comics and illustration.

Another bastard joke of the gods. Im really, really shocked for this. According with Newsarama Mike Wieringo (one of my favorite artists) passes away the last sunday of a sudden heart attack. Wieringo was a true professional and great artist who updated his blog every week with sketches and amazing art.

Rest in peace, Mike.
