Salif Keita

I found a great videoclip from Salif Keita´s last album in YouTube but Universal Music (France) dont like users who embed videos so I can just provide a link to the great and beautiful video made using recycled materials (cardboards, paper and wood)… but dont be sad!! thanks to Soul Kitchen Session I find the same beautiful song in acoustic version…

Salif Keita (1949) is an internationally recognized afro-pop singer-songwriter from Mali. He is unique not only because of his reputation as the Golden Voice of Africa, but because he has albinism and is a direct descendant of the founder of the Mali Empire, Sundiata Keita. This royal heritage meant that under the Malian caste system, he should never have become a singer, which was deemed to be a griot’s role, also he was cast out by his family and ostracized by the community because of his albinism, a sign of bad luck in Mandinka culture. Radaïd

click to visit radaïd website

Theres a lot of foreign music in my jukebox (may be my multicultural family background) but this time I want to show you a very talented band from my country: RADAÏD (wich means son or protege of the sun). The band main characteristic is the mix of music from all over the world using both modern and traditional instrumentation. You can find a lot of audio clips in the official webstie discography section.

From the official website:

Radaid is a project that looks to fuse music from different parts of the world; ethnic and traditional music of towns with present sounds and contemporary style.

Radaid fuses music from Arabia, India, Mexico, Africa, China, North and South America and the Balkan Mountains among others with sounds of electronic and electroacustic character.

Using western ethnic and traditional instrumentation, we seek to break the barrier of space and time and meet again with the similarity that there is between the cultures that inhabited the world using music as a language that unifies us all.

Its good find such a great band from your country.

Duman

::duman::

A good partner in this weeks of hardcore work (and well, in entire life) is music and is better when you discover a rock/grunge turkish group called DUMAN thanks to bloody internet. I highly recommend Duman I and Duman II, his last records. I start this attraction to turkish culture thanks to Orhan Pamuk books and Im trying to know more about art from that country to adapt some concepts and ideas to my own artwork.

Heres some Duman songs:

And theres plenty more in Youtube.

Autumn song

autumn song from Renato on Vimeo.

Just a test.

I write this song 10 years ago (when I was a teenager in a music group called Letra Muerta -Dead Letter-) as response to Winter Song (Canción de Invierno) of Silvio Rodríguez. Both songs talk about people who resign to being themselves only to take a “safe” life.

Sorry for the crappy audio :(

Piazza, New York Catcher

powered by ODEO

This song (Belle & Sebastian) is around my mind since weeks, full of baseball references I still dont know why Im singing this at every day hour.

“The catcher hits for .318 and catches every day
The pitcher puts religion first and rests on holidays
He goes into cathedrals and lies prostrate on the floor
He knows the drink affects his speed, he’s praying for
a doorway
Back into the life he wants and the confession of the bench
Life outside the diamond is a wrench”

Testing audio

Hello. Im testing some audio host services, I want to start to post audio files, music from my workstation but I think that could be some problems with the copyright. For that reason I show a song written by me… yep, a copyrighted song that owns me. The song is called Laura and the band is Letra Muerta, I was a founder member but then drawing and comics comes to my life and thats another story… is a very bad audio but I hope you could enjoy it.
