Work & personal project

::WORK::
Since last friday, Norma and me finished the 98 pages magazine project, 98 pages (articles, photos, interviews, et all!!) in 2 1/2 weeks. Now the “big ones” are asking for corrections so, we take this week for this. Thanks SO much to our collaborators (you were our salvation army). At the end, I dont make the illustration related to this post; instead, Im making one to Miguel Almaguer article. Here`s some lost pic:

I want to write a post about work process soon.

::PERSONAL PROJECT::
To this point (and if you read this blog) you know that Im working in a personal comic-book-related-project. Well, Im working in the cover and I can show you some pics of the process…

I cant said much, but guess who is the main girl in this? c´mon is easy!! by the way, Im working as designer and illustrator for a new local magazine and its great!! Illustration is my hard beat and editorial design is in second place… well, design in general. I want to show you this illustration process and this is the first image. See you later, we have 98 pages to finish in 2 weeks… crazy, eh? but I love it.

Oh! I almost forget it!! The last saturday I finish a short tale; originally titled Fixionauta (fixionaut), the final title is Destino Manifiesto.

Sketchtravel

Freakin`WoOoW…

What is it?

This concept is not a contest but an international challenge bringing together more than 50 artists, famous or not and carefully picked up. The challenge is to share ideas, concepts, moods and styles of very differents talented artists coming from all over the globe in ONE COMMON SKETCHBOOK.

The distinctiveness of this sketchbook is that artist will not have to send a sketch, a drawing or a painting to a publisher: instead, a real sketchbook will travel from one artist to another during one year.

I love the concept, some of my favorite illustrators are in: James Jean, Pierre Alary, Ronnie del Carmen and Ashley Wood among others talented illustrators. They have a short clip in YouTube!!

Mmmh, I want to start a similar project in Mexico, is this possible?

Fanart – Round 3

I delete the “weekly” in the title… ¬_¬

Third draw in my Fantastic Four Fanart on my DeviantArt… the art is pencilled over fabriano and then inked and colored with magick crayolas. The next character is, obviously, The Thing.

The first was Susan and the second Johnny.

FJordan`s sketchbook

My former teacher (and kick-ass illustrator) Federico Jordán has uploaded his last sketchbook in a huge archive (4.2 Mb), a lot of great sketches and drawings. He has been a big inspiration to me. Link here!

Update: Here`s a Drawn! entry about Federico Jordán… and you know that only can find kick-ass illustrators there ;)

Medley

Ok, what can I say? what can I say?…

Perhaps I begin to update this thing the next week… no, a little while, perhaps before. I dont know. Meanwhile, check these three of my friends deviantart galleries:

- Andrés “darkiescout” Esparza: Hes drawing a comic called Nahuice.
- Tomás Hernandez: Kick-ass artist.
- Balta Cárdenas: The guy who see interporn in the mac on my left.

The last week I finished The Boat of a Million Years by Poul Anderson, very good lecture, also I finished Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card, the second part of Ender`s Game, I liked too, not at the level of Anderson`s novel but is better (in a literary level) than Ender`s Game. Now I have a pair of books of Italo Calvino and the Lord of the Rings series… I must say this: I fell asleep at the first five minutes of the film, so my expectations on Tolkien aren`t too good… but my girl give me the books and I will give a chance since she did the same with Dr. House (oh, I love that show!).

Weekly fanart – Round 1

This draw begins the Weekly F.F. fanart (original, eh?) on my DeviantArt… five sketches (four individual and one in group) over fabriano of the Fantastic Four, you choose the next character… Ben? Johnny? Reed? Click on the link to know it!!!
