En esta ocasión quisiera escribir sobre un tema muy olvidado en el cómic mexicano (y bueno, en muchos otros países pero hay que dramatizar esto, si no lo hago, no se sostiene). Hay muchísimas opiniones encontradas sobre lo que debería ser un buen cómic centradas en su mayoría en los temas a tratar, en los estilos literarios y en la forma de dibujar y colorear; sin embargo creo que hay dos puntos importantes que casi siempre se olvidan (sin demeritar la importancia de los otros): la edición y el lettering. Quisiera dedicar este post al maltrecho lettering.
Cabe hacer la aclaración que si bien este texto está redactado en base a lo que he visto de cómic nacional tambien está redactado en base a los errores que yo mismo he cometido a lo largo de los últimos 10 años (desde que empecé a publicar en un fanzine). Las imágenes están tomadas de mi colección y son utilizadas sin afán de hacer mofa o evangelizar conceptos… que nadie se sienta atacado.

La función del lettering básicamente tiene que ver con la composición tipográfica en un cómic, es decir, con lo referente a los bocadillos, la tipografía (la font elegida y sus pesos, las onomatopeyas) y la ortografía, por lo tanto nos metemos con diseño gráfico. Los errores (¡horrores!) son varios pues por lo regular la persona encargada del lettering tiene poca o nula experiencia con el diseño gráfico (haciendo hincapié en que no creo que nesecites una licenciatura en diseño gráfico para hacer un buen lettering, pero un poco de bases no vendría mal). I havent upload nothing for Design category in more than a year. This is due a lot of factors, I left graphic design studies and in some point I lost my touch to this entire world. But I love that, learn about graphic design is maybe one of the most significant things in my life, you can learn a LOT to apply in sequential art (comics, graphic novels).
