Digital color hiatus

Hey! This is about the lack of updates in my printed work (left column).

Comics are fun, comics are great. Digital color work is one of the best pies in my life… they pay me for something that I really enjoy! But digital colors are not enough. Dont misunderstand me, I love comics… but also books, art and illustration. In the next weeks my illustration and sketchbook gallery will be updated. Im working in a few changes.

Still, 2 or 3 comic books (colored by me) are scheduled for next months and theres a color video process that Im recording in my free time.

Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant

Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant by Tony Cliff is a free online webcomic that updates every Saturday morning. I find it some days ago via Twitter, thanks to Jill Thompson. The story is set in the early 19th-century Turkey and you must know that I love turkish culture for some years thanks to Orhan Pamuk´s books.

Tercer aniversario Comikaze

Se cumplen tres años del proyecto Comikaze y no quiero dejar de felicitar a todo el equipo que se hace cargo de la única publicación periódica (al momento de escribir esto) sobre comics y otros temas que giran en torno a la historieta y que sigue manteniendo la calidad en sus artículos y entrevistas como al principio.

Tambien quisiera agradecer la oportunidad de formar parte del crew coloreando las portadas de Jesús Hernández, ya se está cocinando la siguiente y espero que resulte ser una sorpresa para muchos y un paso hacia adelante para nosotros sobre lo que se ha estado haciendo con las portadas hasta el momento. Programa DIMUDI 2011

Ayer se publicó el programa del DIMUDI 2011 y debo decir que será todo un gusto compartir el evento en la Universidad Veracruzana con José M. Morelos, Jorge Caballero, Manolo Guerrero, Eréndira Mancilla, Karla Blanco y Paco Calles, además de los asistentes a los talleres y conferencias.

El taller que impartiré sobre creación de comics inicia el martes 26 de 4 a 8 de la tarde, lo terminamos el jueves 28 y ese mismo jueves (a las 10 de la mañana) presento una conferencia titulada El cómic como noveno arte en la Galería AP (Unidad de artes).

Taller y conferencia sobre comics en Xalapa

DIMUDI 2011

A finales de mes viajo a Xalapa a impartir un taller sobre creación de cómics y a dar una conferencia sobre el mismo tema en la Facultad de Artes Plásticas de la Universidad Veracruzana, la duración del taller es de 3 días iniciando el 26 de abril de 4pm a 8pm. para información e inscripciones en los talleres pueden enviar un correo a dimudi@live.com.mx

El objetivo del taller es dar un repaso general al proceso de creación de una historieta (guión, dibujo, entintado, color digital, lettering) para generar un cómic breve de 3 páginas. La conferencia titulada El cómic como noveno arte es la misma que he presentado anteriormente en otras universidades y eventos pero con la gran diferencia que en estos momentos me encuentro leyendo Nadie acabará con los libros una serie de entrevistas a Umberto Eco y Jean-Claude Carrière que no han hecho mas que enriquecer mis puntos de vista sobre el futuro del cómic que va bastante ligado al del libro.
